Tom Cruise: Big Name, Small Beginning

Tom Cruise didn't come out of his mother's womb as THE "Tom Cruise" and walked the red carpet. He was just an ordinary guy, like the rest of us, before he reached stardom.

Before getting his big break, the then 12-year-old Tom Cruise spent a short time in Kentucky where he was a paperboy for the Louisville Courier-Journal. In fact, it was Tom's newspaper-delivery earnings that put food on the table, after Tom, his mom and his sister lived in near-poverty for a couple of years. Oh, and when he was younger, he joined a seminary in order to become a priest. Until Scientology came along, that is. Or puberty.

It's really inspiring how people like Cruise, who was just a paperboy, got to where he is now. The man we are reading in the papers now, once delivered the those papers at doorsteps. The rest of us got hope!
