The New York Post dubbed Charice Pempengco as the "newly crowned pop princess" in its post Pop Wrap's fave five 3.17.
We knew the Charice who can belt the highest of notes despite her age. We knew the young girl who can sing Whitney Houston and Celine Dion songs and still have that smile on her face. We watched her flare with excellence and confidence in the Ellen DeGeneres show and in Oprah. In short, we watched her rise to fame as she soared on high notes.
But Charice isn't simply that kind of singer who gets stuck in a musical genre and disappear over time. She proves she has more up his sleeve and it's not only the high notes that she can perform. She started performing Michael Jackson songs like Billie Jean. You can see her in her videos taking it easy with RnB and pop songs.
And now, with her newest single, Pyramid, she shows she can do much more! She's not only this rising young diva, she's also this cool teenage girl who takes it easy and can do the groove. She's not only the lady who's good to listen to, but cool to sing with as well.
Here's the music video of "Pyramid"
Filipinos couldn't be more proud with her international achievements. However, many do not like the title, "Pop Princess" as it is in conflict with our local "Pop Princess" Sarah Geronimo. I DON'T THINK there should be a point of argument. First, the New York Post couldn't have known (and probably doesn't care) about our local titles. They just feel that Charice should be a pop princess and there it goes. And second, we all know the differences between Charice and Sarah. We should just be all proud of the two.
